At one time, O’Neill was one of the highest-ranking non-Japanese experts in Kodokan judo in the world (5th degree, 1947). He taught his combatives system to thousands of servicemen and police. This article gives an overview of O’Neill’s life, his time in Asia, his work with special forces, and his system of hand-to-hand combat.
