This study looks at the relevance of board breaking to the syllabi of martial arts schools. The possibility of late-life arthritis is examined, as well as the physics of striking as it relates to the relative difficulty of board breaking for gender and body stature. Suggestions are offered before including this practice in any martial art syllabus.
