Form and Function: Why Push-Hands is Essential to the Practice of Taijiquan

Push-hands is a two-person training exercise for developing the defensive and offensive skills of taijiquan, in particular, ward off, roll back, press, and push. This article will briefly outline some of the theory and practice of the exercise and will present several auxiliary solo and partner drills to supplement traditional push-hands practice.
