This article was written in response to Sutton’s article, “The development of Zheng Manqing taijiquan in Malaysia” (v3n1). The two authors represent different perspectives from their time and place, which provides insight into the life and teaching of Zheng, as well as illustrating just what we can’t know with certainty about old masters.
