The author studied Xingyi boxing with famed Hong Yixiang in Taipei, Taiwan. Hong trained premier fighters to compete in “open-style” national tournaments, winning all weight divisions his school entered. Hong’s students were victorious, often using the fist or the open palm was the main weapon used in actual fighting. This article focuses on Xingyi’s contribution to practical boxing applications.
