The Ayurvedic medical traditions of southwest India hold an antique tradition of massage therapies intended for health maintenance, strengthening, and rejuvenation or as physical therapies. These therapies were incorporated into the martial art of kalarippayattu as part of their regular training. Massages work on one’s muscules, bones, and energy.
